I have been living in Melbourne for 10 years.

When I first got to Melbourne, the first book I bought was the coffee table book, ‘Explore Australia’.  This was Australia best-selling travel guide.

I intended to do the, “been there, done that, checked” thing.

Friends from back home would visit regularly and each group would ask the same questions:

“What can I see and do in Melbourne?”

“I only have two days, how can I best spend my time?”

“What’s the best restaurant to have a western meal without breaking the bank?”

“Is it cheaper to self drive or go on a guided tour?”

“Can you do a two-day itinerary for me?”

“Which is the best website to seek out information on Melbourne?”

…..and so on

I spent hours exploring websites, guide books and visiting locations to gather information for my friends.

I’ve also taken visitors on day trips to some of my suggested locations and I am glad that feedback received were all very positive.

The few things I noticed during my search for information were the lack of pictures for these attractive locations and the difficulty in putting an itinerary together.

So ‘Melbourne Unlocked’ is an attempt to provide a ‘pictorial’ guide of Melbourne and to suggest itineraries for short visits.

The City of Melbourne website is a good place to start, so I will begin by using their guides and adding on some of my pictures, which I hope will provide you a better idea of what you can see or do.

Melbourne Unlocked aims to help you discover much more of Melbourne and its unique offerings.

Thank you and enjoy!
